Job Profile: Coordinator European Center for Circular Building and Transformation (ECCBT)
Introduction
The transition to a circular economy is crucial for a sustainable future. Traditional linear economic models, where raw materials are converted into products and then discarded as waste, are no longer viable due to their negative environmental and climate impacts. The construction sector is responsible for a significant portion of global resource consumption and waste production. By shifting to a circular model where materials are reused for as long as possible, the sector can reduce its ecological footprint, lessen its dependence on primary resources, and create new economic opportunities.
In the Parkstad region, we see a unique opportunity to promote the circular economy. The strategic location and close collaboration within the Euregio Meuse-Rhine offer an ideal platform to develop and implement cross-border initiatives. By acting as a pioneer, Parkstad and the Euregio can contribute to regional sustainability and serve as an example for other regions.
Mission of the ECCBT
Under the banner of the European Center for Circular Building and Transformation in Parkstad, a consortium of Euregio market players, knowledge institutions, and governments work together to accelerate the circular transition. Through knowledge sharing and collaboration in research and innovation projects focused on the construction sector, a positive impact is sought, not only in the immediate environment but also in a broader European context. The center aims to achieve economic prosperity, social inclusion, and environmental protection in its activities, using the region and its mining history to create a sustainable and livable future.
